2018-2019 SFL Round 11 wrap-up
The final round before the holiday threw up a number of surprises as the Pro Futsal season reaches a third of the way through. Longobarda rebounded in fine fashion with a big comeback against Balga FC, going 5th man in the dying minutes before snatching a 5-4 victory courtesy of a Remo Capitani penalty to keep the Italians inside the top four over Christmas. While Balga had been making a habit of last gasp draws of late, their luck seemed to finally run out.
Cockburn EWA also rebounded with a solid 5-3 win over Curtin Footbalista, who just lacked a bit of depth and faded toward the end of the match, but in true style fought valiantly for as long as they could. Moreno Capello the standout for Footbalista, with a couple of goals amid his usual incredible workrate.
Bottom placed Spearwood Lions upset the Murdoch Warriors 4-3 to give their season a real boost come January, despite the Warriors scoring one of the great set piece goals of the season so far (check the Pro Futsal highlights) while the ECU Jets came from behind to beat Perth AFC 2-1 in a low scoring affair, in probably one of the most boring matches of the season.
Toward the pointy end of the table, Stirling Braza Ginga did the job over an improved Fremantle FC 2-0, and Rockingham Cambio Cumbre made light work of South Perth, hammering them 5-0.
