Opening Night | 2019 WA Invitational Futsal Cup
The Innaguaral 2019 WA Futsal Invitational gets underway from 6.00PM tonight, featuring WA’s best Futsal clubs as well as the Sydney Stars, who will make the long trip in search of another piece of silverware following their undefeated run last year in the Craig Foster International.
The Sydney Stars, stacked with current and former Futsalroos players look to be the team to beat this weekend, but recent history suggests travelling teams will find it hard to progress all the way to the final, with the last major national competition held at Pro Futsal in 2016 resulting in the likes of Pascoe Vale, Balwyn FC, Fitzroy and Adelaide Fusion all leaving with their tails between their legs as Cambio Cumbre and Stirling Braza Ginga played out a Series Futsal Final for the ages.
Reigning SFL Champions Cockburn EWA
will no doubt be looking to make a run to the finals and cap off a wonderful SFL season for them, with the minor premiership already within their grasp.
The inform Murdoch Warriors will also attract plenty of interest as they continue to improve heading into the SFL playoffs where they have beaten WA’s best in recent weeks.
Stirling Braza Ginga will come into the three day to tournament a bit of an unknown quantity, with a few major ommissions, but they are not to be taken lightly- they are always there or thereabouts in major tournaments.
While Fremantles young squad cannot be written off, Nestor Fonseca’s Rockingham Cambio Cumbre will feature the returning Rico Zulkarnain and new Longobarda signing Robert Armellini and certainly look the best from the West at this stage.
Catch all the action from 6.00PM tonight, livestreamed with commentary only at the Pro Futsal Centre 25-27 Port Pirie Dr, Bibra Lake.
