2018-2019 SFL Round 8 wrap-up
Round 8 of the WA State Futsal League once again lived up to expectation, with a total of 34 goals scored across the 5 WA State Futsal League matches played this weekend.
The opening match of the round saw Malaysian National team player Yazid Omar return to Rockingham Cambio Cumbre for the clash against Curtin Footbalista and he didn’t disappoint, showcasing incredible passing, movement and workrate to help “La Cumbre” take out a 4-1 win. Curtin Footbalista showed plenty of fight, were denied a penalty shout at a crucial point in the match, but overall should take plenty of inspiration from a very good game against the strongest Cumbre lineup of the season so far.
Stirling Braza Ginga continued their impressive run of form, nothing up a 3-0 win over the improved Spearwood Lions to keep them right on the heels of Cockburn EWA who once again cruised to a 7-3 victory over the Joondalup ECU Jets
who sit bottom of the table.
Fremantle’s minor slump continued, spurning chance after chance as the fighting spirit and never say die attitude of Balga FC caused them problems right up until the final seconds of the match as they snatched a 4-4 draw courtesy of a Giddeon Servatius
free kick. Balga FC sit in a respectable ninth position now, just a win away from the top six and a potential finals berth.
The more experienced Murdoch Warriors shared the honours with a much improved Perth AFC, with Massimo Bassolu and Justin Pearce scoring brilliant goals to deny Perth AFC in the dying stages. Perth AFC move up to 10th in a log jam of teams all within a win of each other.
Catch all the action from Round 9 of the WA State Futsal League from 7:50PM, Friday November 30.
