2018-2019 SFL Round 2 wrap-up
Round two of the Pro Futsal WA State Futsal League began with reigning Champions Cockburn EWA accounting for the Murdoch Warriors 3-2 in what was a commendable performance by the Warriors. Murdoch had some great early chances turned away by top young goalkeeper Jason Quintilliani. Cockburn will be without Sergio Coelho for the next 2 matches, after he received a red for a dangerous tackle midway through the encounter.
Red was also on the cards for Longobarda’s newest signing, goalkeeper Sam Moretta, who handled the ball outside the area. Despite the red card, Longobarda still secured a 6-4 victory over the Joondalup ECU Jets. The Jets showed plenty of fight and just ran out of fuel towards the end.
South Perth notched 3 points with a 4-2 victory over Spearwood Lions, in a match that saw Josh Marr’s return to the SFL following the end of the Canning Tiger era.
Curtin Footbalista FC showed plenty of fight in their 2-1 loss to Frementle. Two left foot missiles from Milan Rosic proved that set pieces can win futsal matches. Stirling Braza Ginga FC bounced back from last week’s slip with an 11-2 victory over Balga FC. Balga have some work to do in their opening season in the SFL.
The final match of the round saw 8 time SFL Champions Rockingham Cambio Cumbre stretch their legs against former Championship side Perth AFC 7-1. AFC could not back up their opening matchday surprise against Stirling Braza Ginga FC.
